Dating Dating And Marriage - 1735 Words
Dating and marriage in Japan has many aspects to it. In the start of the relationship, the physical intimacy of it is a slow process (Kincaid, 2014). Kissing, hugging, and sex do not come until the couple can confess their love together or also called kokuhaku. I will come back to the meaning of this, but first before dating there is a phase called gokon. During this phase a group of friends get together and mingle with each other. Sometimes they can have bling group dates. In this culture the approval of friends is necessary for a relationship to even start to progress. After multiple group dates then the people start to pair off and go out on dates in public. Even at this time they are still not considered dating, but trying to feel each other out. After the couple has decided they are into each other they can start the dating the phase. This phase is referred to as kokuhaku, which I refereed to earlier. During this time the couple confesses love for each other, which initiates the dating stage. Saying ââ¬Å"I love youâ⬠means that they are ready to get into a relationship and see each otherââ¬â¢s parents. The men are expected to make the confession, but it wouldnââ¬â¢t be abnormal for the women to do it (Kincaid,2014). After this stage now the couple has the possibility to kiss and hug each other, but usually physical intimacy progresses slowly in a relationship. The partial reason for the slow progress of intimacy comes from the collectivist group thinking of the Japanese culture.Show MoreRelatedDating, Marriage, And Divorce1365 Words à |à 6 PagesDating, Marriage, Divorce Dating, marriage, and divorce are three very important topics that each have commands from God to us.
